Alberta’s Inclusive Overnight Youth Camp
Beyond The Trees offers inclusive, nature-based overnight summer camps across Alberta for children and youth ages 5–17. Through canoeing, hiking, arts and crafts, and outdoor education, campers build confidence, resilience, and lasting connections—with nature, with others, and with themselves. We’re proud to create a welcoming space for all kids, including those in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and offer one of Alberta’s only queer-affirming camp programs. Rooted in values of community, mental well-being, and personal growth, Beyond The Trees helps young people unplug, explore, and belong.

TESTIMONIALS
Summer camp holds many special memories for me as a child growing up. The opportunity for instant friends, a welcoming and inclusive environment, the opportunity to be outdoors and play, swim and be silly all day long.
With Beyond the Trees programs and summer camp, my own children are able to experience all these same moments that I did. I can see how much my kids grew from their time spent out in nature at summer camp. They learned survival skills, like how to gather materials to make a campfire, in outdoor ed. They developed confidence on the water, learning to canoe. They fostered a greater appreciation of others through their spiritual programming.
In today's busy and connected world, it's nice as a parent to have a place where I can send my kids to disconnect from technology, be immersed in nature and connect with their peers in a safe, welcoming and instantly fun environment.

Last summer, both of my children (ages 9 and 6) attended Beyond the Trees – Borealis Camp, and it was truly a transformative experience for them. As a sleepaway camp, it allowed them to step away from their everyday routines and immerse themselves in nature, friendship, and personal growth.
They especially loved being outdoors—learning to canoe, exploring the natural world, and building strong, meaningful connections with other kids. My younger child developed a deep appreciation for nature, while my older one gained confidence in making new friends and grew in his enjoyment of the outdoors.
What impressed me most was the camp staff: warm, caring, and clearly passionate about giving each camper a memorable and enriching experience. The emphasis on unplugging from screens and reconnecting with the natural world was refreshing and much needed.
Beyond the Trees gave my kids the chance to grow their independence, build relationships, and experience the joy of being part of a supportive and nature-centred community. I would enthusiastically recommend it to anyone looking for a meaningful and fun camp experience for their children.

Sending my 13-year-old daughter to Camp Borealis with Beyond the Trees was one of the best decisions we made last summer. From the moment she arrived, she felt safe, included, and completely herself. The staff created such a welcoming, supportive environment—one where every camper is truly valued.
Our daughter came home full of confidence, new friendships, and camp songs she still sings around the house. The skits, the laughter, the sense of belonging—it all meant everything to her. As a parent, I’m so grateful for a camp where kids can just be themselves and feel celebrated. I wholeheartedly recommend Beyond the Trees to any family looking for a place where their child will be welcomed, supported, and truly seen.
